Peppers Step by Step

This section will guide you through the steps in growing your hot peppers.  Sometimes it's also useful to know when things should be done so you can block out some time at the right moment for your hobby.

January 1
Go online to PepperJoe.com and order your seeds for the season.  If you also want to grow tomatoes, order those from Penny's Tomatoes.
February - March
Get the little plants going to be ready for spring.
March - April

Harden Off the Plants

Start getting the seedlings accustomed to the outdoors.  The timing for this will vary depending on where you live, but outdoor temperatures need to be consistently above 65 degrees to begin this process.

April - June

Transfer to Containers

You can start putting them in containers at your leisure, but it's easier to move them between inside and outside if you harden them off before hand and then can just leave them outside once in containers..

July - September

Tend your Crops

Take care of the plants until the peppers are ready for harvest.

July - October

Harvest

Collect your winnings.

July - October

Process

Preserve your peppers in a variety of ways.
